Delicious Organic Coffee

Coffee drinkers everywhere now have the option of forgoing their ordinary cup of coffee and going “organic”.  Coffee made from organic coffee beans has advantages and is healthier for you than its traditional counterpart.

Organic coffee is created using beans that have been cultivated and harvested without the use of chemical or synthetic pesticides or herbicides, which can be harmful to both growers and consumers.

Because the yield of organic coffee is less than with traditional coffee, this type of coffee tends to be more expensive than regular coffee.  In growing organic coffee, emphasis is made on recycling, fair trade purchasing, composting, and soil health, as well as on a healthy environment.

Coffee is certified organic using a third party certification organization; most commonly, organic growers use the Organic Crop Improvement Association.  There is a cost involved, cutting into the profits of the small producers that often make this type of coffee.  In addition, organic coffee is “shade grown”, which reduces yield and also adds to the cost of this type of coffee.
Most organic coffee is also considered “fair trade coffee” and a special certification is required for that status.  Fair trade coffee is traded in such a way as to bypass the coffee trader, allowing better profits to the producer, in general.
The third party certification organization that certifies fair trade coffee is called TransFair USA.

Organic coffee traded using fair trade methods involves an agreement by coffee importers and small farmers that says the importers will purchase their organic coffee from smaller farmers listed in the International Fair Trade Coffee Register.

Organic growers are guaranteed a minimum “fair trade price” for their coffee and importers provide a certain amount of credit to growers against future sales, keeping farmers out of debt.  The middle man is cut out of this process.

It is also important in organic coffee farming that the farming be sustainable.  While the definition of “sustainable” varies, it basically means that the growth of the organic coffee is healthy for the environment and the people who grow and buy it.  Sustainable organic farming doesn’t destroy the land the product is grown on and uses very little external energy in the production of the organic product.

A sustainable organic farm is designed to give back to the land as much as it receives from it.  Non-renewable resources are avoided and pollution in the farming process is minimized as much as possible.  Sustainable organic farming thinks of the health and welfare of the employees as well.

One example of using sustainable farming is to reuse the organic coffee husks as heating fuel rather than using petroleum or natural gas heating.  New trees are grown to make up for those used in heating.

Sustainable organic coffee growing takes steps to avoid excess energy added to the system.  For example, a solar coffee drying system is used instead of commercial coffee bean dryers.  Water consumption is minimized in sustainable organic
coffee growing and the water used is kept clean.  Water from the coffee fermentation tanks is never dumped in rivers or lakes but is filtered naturally through the earth before being used for irrigation.

Sustainable organic farms will spread organic fertilizer like composted coffee pulp under and between the coffee trees.
Yields are increased and the mineral content in the soil is maximized.  All in all, organic coffee farming is safe, healthy and good for the environment.  Consumers can buy these products in cooperatives, health food stores and some supermarkets.

Best iPhone Bluetooth Headset

When you have an Apple iPhone, there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of applications and benefits to having this phone.  However, one of the best aspects of this phone is how it mobilizes your life and streamlines the need for various, bulky, electronics.  Now, with your iPhone, you can listen to your favorite songs, check your e-mail, get directions and have constant contact with the world around you.

Yet, one of the greatest features about the iPhone is the fact that it has the most up-to-date Bluetooth technology placed inside of its frame.  Bluetooth is a great way to add even more portability and easy access to your iPhone and the contacts within it.  But what is the best Bluetooth device for your iPhone?

Since there are literally hundreds of different types of Bluetooth devices, it can be difficult to decide which one of these devices will work best for your individual needs.  While many people like to have speakerphones and other devices like that, the number one Bluetooth device is the headset.

A Bluetooth headset will allow you to have constant contact with your phone, without having to actually hold the phone up to your ear, which makes it perfect for those who are always in their car, or when you're at the office and you must perform multitasking throughout your day.  The number one Bluetooth headset for the iPhone is the Jawbone Noise Shield Bluetooth Headset for Apple iPhone.

This amazing headshot is not only stunning visually, but it delivers the best quality signal imaginable.  However, the number one thing that everyone will notice with this Bluetooth headset is the fact that it is visually amazing.  Bluetooth headset manufacturers knew that if they were to provide a headset for the iPhone, they would have to make it as unique and stunning as the iPhone itself.

And with this particular headset, they accomplished this goal, and then some.  The appearance of this headset is striking, due to its unique earpiece and "steel" perforated mouth piece.

This headset actually conforms to the curve of your face, thus giving you sound quality and comfort unlike anything else.  Also, the size of this headset is quite small, thus making it not-as-noticeable as some other Bluetooth headsets.  This small and sophisticated headset will not take away from your professional appearance, but it will enhance it.

But what really makes this headset stand out from all the rest?  Since this headset is a noise cancelling device, it literally makes note of the ambient noise that is resting around you.  Thus, it will actually adjust its audio volume depending on how loud the room is around you.  This will mean that you will always have perfect audio quality, which is something that many Bluetooth headsets lack.

The curve of the headset is not only done for aesthetic reasons, but it also serves a more high-tech purpose.
Since the curve of the microphone rests on your cheeks, it doesn't simply detect and relay the sound coming from your mouth; it actually feels the vibrations from your voice and then activates the microphone.

This is due to the various sound sensors that are placed within this headset.  If you are looking for a great companion with your iPhone that will add style and grace to the way you communicate, than you will love the Jawbone Noise Shield Bluetooth Headset.

Guided Tours of Lovely Austria and Surrounding Areas

When you think of Austria, it’s easy to imagine its snowy Alps and the “Sound of Music”.  If you find yourself humming “do-re-mi”, it may be time to book one of the exciting guided tours of this lovely and historic area.  It may well be a trip to remember.

Start your tour in Innsbruck, the home of two winter Olympics.  Most guided tours will take you to some of the historic Olympic venues and you may wish to pick up some souvenirs while you’re there.

Nearby is the beautiful and historic city of Salzburg.  Much of its architecture has been preserved over the centuries and there are many sites to see.  Many of the guided tours of this area will show you the birthplace of Mozart, one of the most famous composers of all time.

While in Salzburg, there are some guided tours that will take you to all of the places from the movie, “The Sound of Music”, including the Salzburg Cathedral, where the main characters were married and the Nonnberg Abbey. Dominating the skyline of Salzburg is the Hohensalzburg Fortress, a large, white fortress high on a hill above the city.

At the right time of year, the Mirabell Palace has a fantastic garden showplace that visitors can stroll around.
If you are interested in seeing the Alps themselves, go on one of the guided tours of the area that take you slightly outside of Austria proper, up into the magnificent mountains and to an infamous place called Berchtesgaden. This place is now a small, quaint town that is also the home to the historic Eagle’s Nest.

They will put you into small buses for a hair-raising, scissor-back trip up the mountain until you find yourself winding your way to the top of the mountain. The view itself is breathtaking.

Once you’ve arrived near the top of the mountain on which the Eagle’s Nest sits, many guided tours of the area will take you through a mysterious tunnel that ends at a golden—yes, golden—elevator. Take out your camera because the view of the surrounding mountains is unparalleled.

After visiting the Alps, many guided tours of Austria will finish up in the large and famous city of Vienna, Austria.
Vienna was once home to the Austrian Emperor and was where Mozart lived and wrote the bulk of his musical work. Vienna is the center of culture, music and the arts in Austria and there are dozens of places to visit.

For museum-goers, many guided tours of Vienna will show you the city’s museum quarter.  The Sisi Museum is a museum centered around the Empress Elisabeth of Austria and visitors can see the historic Imperial apartments and other treasures from the reign of the Empress.  The Hofburg is another wonderful place.

Visitors to this museum can see the spectacular imperial jewels, dating back to the Hapsburg dynasty.  In addition, the Naturhistorisches Museum, which houses many ancient pieces of art.

Don’t forget the hundreds of lovely villages and towns you can explore in Austria. Some guided tours of Austria will stop at a small, traditional restaurant away from the big cities, giving you a chance to meet the local people and sample the
local cuisine.
